Types of hallucinations

Visual Hallucinations

Visual Hallucinations are the most common variety and also probably the most well known among the general public. Visual hallucinations can come in any shape and form and are often impossible to explain. Some people can see things turn into dust, while someone else sees a tree running in the distance. Mild hallucinations often make things look brighter and more colorful than usual.

Auditory Hallucinations

As the name already suggests, this variety of hallucinations makes you hear things that are not there. A dead relative might whisper in your ears or the intro song from your favorite show might be playing in the far distance distance. This category itself can also be divided  into three different levels of intensity.

Partially defined embedded hallucinations
The voices are only whispers and sounds are generally not clear, lack clarity and are embedded in other sounds making it hard to distinguish from each other.

Partially defined separated hallucinations
The voices are a lot clearer and are separated from other sources.

Fully defined separate hallucinations
Might as well be listening to someone in person as these sounds are clear and fully defined.

Tactile Hallucinations

These names are really self explanatory aren’t they? Well, this variety might make the user feel things that aren’t there. Think of insects crawling over your skin or a gentle tap on the shoulder. This could potentially be dangerous as users can find themselves trying to scratch and remove things on their body that aren’t there causing serious harm.

Olfactory Hallucinations

Smelling things that aren’t there. This greatly depends on the person, but you will either smell something very nice or something super foul. So while one might smell a freshly cooked steak,  someone else might smell raw sewage.

Gustatory Hallucinations

Tasting things that haven’t eaten! This variety is rare and does not happen often, but for the case it does, having snacks close to you with different textures can make the trip extra dope.

Proprioceptive Hallucinations

Ever had a dream where you could fly? Well, proprioceptive hallucinations are similar to those dreams. This variety will make you feel like you can fly or float.
